I will pick the customers up from a predetermined location (normally Maximo Park in St. Petersburg FL), brief the customers on location of life jackets and other safety gear, and head out on the waters in search of gamefish. Sometimes I already have bait in the livewells from throwing a cast net, other times it is the first stop. Some customers enjoy and want to see the bait being caught, and are welcome to see that first hand. If catching bait with the Captain, this would not be a part of the paid fishing time. We will then venture to some mangrove shorelines, lush grass flats, docks, nearshore wrecks or other fishy areas and proceed to wetting some lines. After the fishing charter is over, we will return to the boat ramp and if desired, the I will clean and bag your catch at no additional charge. Fish species generally targeted are snook, seatrout, redfish, and tarpon just to name the primary species. Other catches can include but not limited to sharks, grouper, snapper, mackerel, cobia, catfish, flounder, jacks, and other sea creatures.
Not likely, most fishing charters will stay within Tampa Bay itself and people generally do not get seasick, think of it like a big salty lake... If you are prone to getting seasick please take the necessary precautions. Dramamine, the stick on patch, and ginger root vitamins (and ginger ale) are all great to fight motion sickness conditions.
I am located in St. Petersburg, Florida and serve the Tampa bay area. My primary pickup location for fishing charters will be Maximo Park Boat Ramp in St. Pete, close to Eckerd college and O'neill's marina. This is a public park and boat ramp with free parking. Other locations are available depending on weather conditions, fishing opportunities, and desired location close to customers. The park is a short drive from major cities such as Tampa, Clearwater, Bradenton, Sarasota, and Brandon.
